Today would have been Jerry Goldsmith's 90th Birthday

Jerry Goldsmith, the composer responsible for the theme music of various Star Trek films and TV shows would have turned 90 today. In memory of his many contributions to Star Trek, what are your favorite Goldsmith works done for the movies and series over the years? My favorite Trek score by the late composer is linked below:

I love his soundtracks. Especially this one from Air Force One. It spreads some theater flair here. And it has a Trek like quality. I can also see Harrison Ford as some high ranking Admiral. On the other and, he would likely steal Shatner, Picard and Co. the show!

The MP score was the high-water mark for Trek music. I am not an expert, but other Goldsmith favorites are The Sand Pebbles, Chinatown, Papillon and Patton.

Great movie, and an even better soundtrack!

Goldsmith was one of those genius composers whose music was so good, it was often even better than the films he scored that were already good films in their own rights. Take this example, Rudy. The movie itself was an epic sports drama and inspirational piece, but the score eclipsed it to such a degree that many epic films used the score in their trailers. Listen to the piece below, and you can almost picture a young freshman named Jean-luc Picard passing three upperclassman up in the Starfleet Academy marathon.

He is my favorite film composer.

Was watching Mulan the other day with my kids and noticed the battle music sounds a lot like Star Trek 5 when Sybok and his terrorists are riding into Paradise City.
