Today I went to a LEGO exhibition

Today I went to a really large LEGO exhibition in the city. It was a blast. There were even people running around in cosplay and we had a few jedis, a panda, and even time lords.

Right near the front of the exhibition though I found something neat tucked in a corner and almost no one noticed it or cared it was there which was sad. I thought there would have been a few more trekkies there..

Anyway here's pictures.

It's hard to do those smooth curves in Lego--but I might make a very large ship using the top of the saucer--I like that layered look. I might go for something more like the Vengeance, since that hull would seem to lend itself to LEGO better.

Which is funny since the Mega Bloks Enterprise looks much better then this... Pity about the damn price as that thing is very hard to find and expensive. And not available in Australia. the frigging sods.

Lego does have curved pieces that could have been used for the nacelles. But it's very hard to work into a model without tearing your hair out.

Here's a link to all the photos I took at the event. There is even a model of the Titanic with I think a TARDIS on the top ...

For those that have facebook you can see the album here.

The new Saturn V kit might supply round nacelles.

What Saturn V?

It's funny the LEGO R2D2 is a very cool model and I own it but hell they could have used those same 2 stud curved pieces on the body and it could have looked a hell of a lot nicer.

Ha! I've seen the kit, but I hadn't noticed that before! Nice!

It's a fun easter egg. Cool how they managed to design the model with the exact number of parts as the year the actual mission.

It doesn't come with a fake soundstage though, and cameras so you can fake your own moon landing ;)
