Today I learned the meanings of rek.

As you might imagine, a short simple syllable like rek has various meaning in different languages.

In South Sudan, the Rek people are a sub group of the Dinka people, and Rek is a dialect of Dinka.

Rek is a Cambodian board game, a variation of Mak-yek, and somewhat similar to chess.

Rek is also an alternative name for three different villages in Iran.

Vitold Rek (b. 1955) is a Polish musician and composer. (his birthname is Witold E. Szczurek, so Rek is a simplified form of his real surname)

And no doubt rek would mean a lot of different things in many different alien languages.

And why did I look up rek today?

my computer password includes "startrek", and when it is run together like that I keep imagining that it separates into "start rek" instead of "Star Trek".

FWIW, I would advise you to avoid using any full words in your password. It just makes it easier to break. I know you're using that string as part of a password. But consider changing "startrek" to "St@rT-rek". You'll be better off.

Uh...

As riveting as that is, it doesn't really have anything to do with Star Trek.
