To the Death - Cut version released on R1 DVD?

The timeslot is up to the local stations,
At the same time, that means the timeslot is up to the local stations.

I think I said that?

Given that Paramount (and the producers, writers, etc themselves to some extent) were scared of losing stations,

I wonder why that is. I didn't think Paramount ever had a hard time getting stations to carry Star Trek. If they lost 1 or 2 local stations, that probably wouldn't affect them greatly. I suppose if a large group of them had complained at the same time then one of the sponsors might have pulled funding.

I was stressing it, hence the italics (which don't carry over into quotes since the whole thing is italicised). If enough stations schedule the show at 5pm-6pm, and/or enough kids watch the show, then the show has to be suitable for that timeslot and audience even if other stations would be happy to have it become "more adult".

These things can create a domino effect - you'll get the odd station in the Deep South pulling it because it backs evolution or something and no-one will bat an eye. But if an episode is sexy/violent/etc enough that several stations get lots of complaints and pull it, others may follow suit.

Well, I never even knew there was another version of this ep, which happens to be one of my favorites, esp. since it introduces the deliciously villainous Weyoun. Good action and good lines. If you've ever seen Clarence Williams III as a crazy assasin in 52 Pick Up who nearly suffocates Vanity, you'll know why he was perfect for the role of Ometi'Klan.

As for the fighting skills of Sisko and Dax here and in Way of the Warrior, sure, you have to suspend your disbelief. But I do want to point out that we see casualties among the Federation folks early on in the ep. And in WOTW, both Kira and O'Brien don't fare so well against the Klingons.

An excellent adventure ep from DSN!

Dumb question I know- but the "neck snapping scene" -is that between Ometi'klan and Toman'torax? Because that aired on TV in Canada... it wasn't edited out- in fact, it plays during 1 and 5 pm, times when all the kids could see it. I'm a bit glad the cut out 32 Jemmie deaths- the fact that I don't like to see my fav species die aside, it was an awful small group, so its not really realistic. Jemmie tactics said there wouldn't really be a huge group there- most would be in the "city" or on patrols around the ziggarot (sp).
