A little background: my car that I moved down with was getting long in the teeth; the AC was dead (not so bad in Massachusetts, where I'm from, but not at all good in Texas!) Furthermore, the transmission was dying; the overdrive was slipping, and it was having trouble getting into second gear as well, with a bit of a shudder. So I went to Champion Chevrolet and got an '05 Cobalt. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the car; it's very maneuverable, brakes well, and gets reasonable mileage (a bit under 30 MPG, which is pretty good for an American car
).
However, there have been...issues. Instead of reiterating them again, I think that I'll just repost the review that I posted to google on the issue:

Seriously, avoid them. The Used Car sales department isn't bad (aside from selling me a car that died after a week, but they quickly owned up to the issues there and made me fairly satisfied, with the loaner and the saleslady helping me get the engine repair work covered), but the Service Department sucks. Horribly. Or at least, the Assistant Manager who's been helping me has, but I'm at the point where I'm not going to try to find a better one there. There's a Firestone that's a lot closer to me and that I never had any issues with when I went there with the Malibu, and I only went to the dealership because they knew my car's issues fairly well. And that convenience has just been overtaken by the bad.I bought a used car a few months back. It was decent, until the engine died less than a week later! I managed to get a loaner at least, but despite the fact that I bought a warranty, the assistant manager told me that it would be ~$800-$900 to fix the engine. Luckily, the sales lady who sold me the car (and got me the loaner) managed to straighten that out.
But then I had to wait two weeks to get it fixed, because my parents (who were helping with the purchase) had to get the paperwork faxed to them, which took a week and a half after I purchased the car to get sent. Still, I got it fixed.
After I got it back though, the blinkers no longer shut off automatically (and blinked fast on the right side), and there were some pretty severe shaking problems. I took it in to get looked at, and they said that the front wheels were bent and the tires worn out, and there was a short in the turn signal lever. I asked for a quote on both, but the AM said that he wanted to wait until he could contact the warranty company to see if the blinker was covered by the warranty, and he'd call me on the next business day (Monday, in this case).
I a week later, I called him for the quotes, and he said that he was still waiting for the result, and he'd get back to me as soon as possible. Fair enough, I suppose. Two weeks after *that*, I call him again, and he tells me that since I haven't been in their system for 30 days, they couldn't tell me. I wouldn't have minded this...if he had called me and told me about it when he got that answer. Still, I finally get a quote on the tires and wheels, and schedule and appointment to get them fixed.
I go in to get that done, and double-check that this would fix all of my shaking problems, including while braking. The AM belts out "Oh, no, the car also needs the brakes fixed." Without even looking at them or anything. And I'm sitting there wondering why in blazes he didn't tell me this *last* time I was there?
That said, the tires and wheels were fixed, and while there were still shaking problems while braking, it was much smoother overall. So while I was dissatisfied with the overall service, it could have been much worse.
I got a call a few days later, asking me about my satisfaction. I said that I wasn't, citing the withholding of information and the fact that the car died less than a week after buying it. The next day, I got a call from the AM, offering me a deal for only $100 to fix the blinkers (which I'm still not sure was actually a deal), and I also schedule a fix to the brakes at the same time.
I come in this morning (after half an hour's sleep--I work nights), and after several hours, I finally get it back. The brakes are fine, but he tells me of some condensation in the right headlight (which I knew about) which was causing electrical problems (which I didn't). That was pretty much all. I then get into the car and test the blinkers, which works fine left-side, shutting off properly. I switch it to the right...and it's still blinking twice as fast, which is one of the reasons why I brought it in! I get out and confront him about it, and he says that it's caused by the condensation...and all I can think of is that he was just telling me about the condensation, and that the fast blinking is one of the reasons why I brought it in!
At this point, I'm done with them. They've not brought up relevant information repeatedly, kept me waiting for incredibly long times, both in the shop and not, and this is all on top of a car dying after less than a week! They're nice people, don't get me wrong, but I work customer service, and I know that nice isn't enough to satisfy customers.
