TNG Worf vs Ds9 Worf.

Which version of Worf was better written. I feel that Ds9 did the best with the character. Ge got to be more of a badass on Ds9 where he was often dismissed on TNG and het got beat up to much on TNG. Plus I think Dorn improved as a actor over the years so we got better acting from Dorn on Ds9.

DS9 Worf is probably a smidge better, but he was also one of the best things about TNG. You can't have one without the other.

^however, Worf from TNG's season is vastly different from TNG season 7 Worf. I'd attribute it to character developed. If we didn't see Worf/ Michael Dorn until Way of the warrior, he would seem different than the DS9 Worf we know.

The thing is the klingons are a funny species. There is alot to make fun with them.

Another thing I like is Worf had Martock to interact with were on TNG he didn't really have a klingon friend.

I think he was especially comedic early in TNG's run

Yes, but it seems far more obvious and intentional in DS9 and even in the the later films. For me, TNG had a more subtle approach.

I think this hits on a critical point: The TNG Worf changed massively over the 7 years. In the first season they barely had any idea what to do with him, and 2nd was only a marginal improvements. It really wasn't until Ron Moore had to come to grips with Worf, and Klingon culture in general, that he began to develop into an interesting character (and really, outside of Picard and Data, one of the most popular TNG characters).

However I think DS9 had a similar problem. He came in to boost ratings, but they still never really knew what to do with him. He always seemed a little superfluous. Sure he had the occasional good moment, but mostly he just drew attention away from the characters we'd already come to love on DS9. I'm not sure they really ever overcame 'the Worf problem'.

There's no difference in my opinion. It is the same character, same actor. Worf just evolved over the years so I have to treat TNG & DS9 as one character package.

I prefer DS9 Worf in almost all aspects, but he's the next step of TNG Worf. Gotta give credit where credit is due, TNG was the foundation.

Worf of TNG was better where he was a serious character. He was more relaxed in DS9, funnier and a romantic which you don't asociate with Klingons.

If you're taking TNG has a whole it MUST be DS9. He was written as a ridiculous caricature in the first couple seasons of TNG.

See, I would attribute his more relaxed demeanor in DS9 to simply being more comfortable with himself. In TNG, he kept trying to prove his Klingon identity and heritage, almost insecurely so, and being at odds with Picard at times about it. DS9 saw him able to take the reigns with more confidence, I feel, because TNG got that out of the way. So again, I feel DS9 Worf is simply an evolution of what Worf had completed in TNG.

DS9 Worf was more developed and just seemed more matured. TNG was his growing period though, I don't think he had come into his own as much as he would do on DS9, but it contained necessary growth for that to happen.

I prefer TNG worf better. I feel like he was a little depressed and not quite himself after he left the enterprise. He didn't do much or interact with many of the DS9 crew apart from Jadzia.
