It's implied in the season finale that the Enterprise-D was back on active duty for an entire year.

In this case i think Riker got his wish and was finally the Captain of the D for this time.

What i wonder about is who else beside probably Crusher, Data, Geordi, Troi and Worf were part of the crew this time. And how many people were aboard and what were their missions like?

As a Riker fan I’m going to officially make what you said official in my head right now

I would like to think that their mission was part shake down cruise for a whole bunch of these young officers who now had to step up (assuming many senior officers were killed in the Borg take over) and part a return to form. The Enterprise going out not as a war ship but as a representation for the Federation.

I like to think Raffi was on it getting schooled by Worf. It would make me feel like she was more prepared for her new position

Think it even possible that she was the flagship again during this year. In this case, as i already said before, i wonder about the size of the crew during this time, who else returned and the possible missions.
