TNG Season 2 is what the Delta Quadrant should have been like

Well, that's fine with me. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously in the first place. And yes my objective in writing was to make it as much as TNG season 2, just for fun. Of course a serious attempt at a rewrite of VOY season 2 would (hopefully) result in something far better.

I don't agree. I enjoyed Season 2 of VOY just as much as I had enjoyed Season 2 of TNG. I just don't see any differences in the qualities of the two season.

It wasn't my intention to make any statement about the writing quality of VOY S2 vs TNG S2 or how much I enjoyed either of those.

That is, in Of course a serious attempt at a rewrite of VOY season 2 would (hopefully) result in something far better, I intended that as: 'far better than what I wrote'. (not: 'far better than the actual S2 VOY season').

You're actually both right. Some of VOY's second season was pretty lame ("Threshold" especially), and others wasted great premises. But it really brought the goods in efforts like "The Thaw", "Deadlock", and "Meld". And the worst inconsistencies had yet to show themselves: torpedoes were still limited, shuttles weren't like clowns in a minicar, and Harry's rank made sense.

Why the Dominion? That's DS9's turf, not Voyager's, and neither is it on Voyager's route home.

And it would be very difficult to feature the Dominion in a single episode like the Borg, if you really want to show just what they are and why they are so dangerous.
