TNG/First Contact era ship

Fleet Captain
Fleet Captain
I'm not a great computer artist by any stretch, but I wanted to share some views of what I had called the America class vessel, named for places across North and South America:

Top, Bottom, Side

It's a preliminary, to be sure, but I was wondering if y'all had some suggestions for improvement, or perhaps someone might be able to do a clean sketch of the ship, perhaps with a little more detailing than I was able to with just pencil/paper.

Specs:
crew: 850
Decks: 36
Photorp: 5f/3a
Phasers: 14 arrays
Shuttlebays: 6; main aft, 4 in the engineering hull proper, 1 on saucer concealed when docked.
Warp: 8 cruise, 9.2 emrg, 9.92 (12 hours max before shutdown)
Size: between Ambassador and Galaxy, closer to Ambassador.
Engineering: Upper, Lower

So, feel free to comment!

You might want to run over those with a black pen and rescan them, I can hardly make them out as they're so faint. Tough to comment if they cant be seen. Sounds interesting though.

The front third does not match the back 2/3's in style. It looks like parts of 2 different designs mounted together.

Hmm...what do you think the front half should be, based on the back? Round saucer? As for the ship, I was going for overall a science vessel with large shuttle bays (aft bay), science space (in the secondary hull, hence the big middle bit), that got converted into essentially an up-armored vessel. I like the saucer bit and the frontal portion of the secondary hull, which I think go together well, so if you've got some ideas on how to improve the rest of it, I'm open.

Wow, if it's gonna be 36 decks, then you should make some alterations to this thing, especially the bridge, shuttlebay and saucer rim, as those are pretty much the best indicators of scale besides windows, escape pods and crew hatches. Remember, smaller is bigger.

Regarding the aesthetic dissonance between the saucer and the other sections, it's because your engineering hull is somewhat angular (particularly when viewed from above), whilst the saucer has this "curvy Lexus" thing going on.

Hope that helped.

it seems good but the pencil lines really need to be inked cus the design to me looks good enough for it :) :techman:
