TNG Enterprise-D Blueprints

Crewman47

Commodore
Newbie
I was looking for a fresh version of the Sternbach Enterprise D blueprints to replace the ones I already have which are a little worn and tattered and when looking on Amazon and Ebay I saw prices for new and as new copies going for around £40 to £50, used prices starting from about £6 or so. I was thinking that as I only paid £14.99 for my copy way back then why now are they charging or looking for prices as high this for a new copy. Not sure if it's because some of the ones listed on Amazon said that they were imported from the US or not but why would the prices be that high?

Any ideas?

Wouldn't this question be better served in the Trek Tech? I would think the response there would be better.

Wasn't really sure where best to post it but if the Mods feel it best to move to a more appropriate forum then please do so. I just thought to post to here cause it was slightly TNG related.

Could just be the lack of copies out there or the fact the lack of demand for the item

I'm pretty sure those blueprints have been out-of-print for awhile. Given that it's one of those pieces of Trek memorabilia that people would love to have now, and the scarcity of said item, people who have them will charge a much higher price since it's considered a "collectors item" now.

I remember when I could find at least one copy of the blueprints at every bookstore I'd go into...now, I'm lucky to find the Trek Encyclopedia in a decent condition. :(

Well, it's had a bit over a day here with no reply, so let's see if you get more help in the Trek Tech section. Good luck!

Crewman47 I understand your problem. Unfortunately, we in the UK are not served well when it comes to Trek related merchandising. I cant count the number of items for sale in the US that were simply never released here, or were only imported by specialist outlets in very small quantities.

I got my set of E-D blueprints soon after they were published in the UK. After a while they got pretty tattered with some of the sheets tearing along the crease lines. :( I was lucky enough about three years ago to come across a almost new set in a charity shop where I managed to pick them up, box as well, for a fiver. :)

I guess the elevated prices you have found is simply a reflection of the fact that they are now out of print (as far as I know) and their scarcity over here.

Good luck with your hunt, I hope you are lucky.

Also, to add to middyseafort info and if anyone's interested, there is an interview I did with Ed Whitefire which is hosted at www.trekplace.com where he discusses the creation of his blueprints. :)
