Titan launches their Dr Who comics line

Wow. Three ongoing monthlies?! I expected the announced Ten and Eleven books to be mini-series to bridge the time till the new ongoing with Twelve would start in fall.

Great news, though, especially since Ten is one of my two favorites.

The names of the writers and artists don't actually ring any bells (except for Robbie Morrison, I've read some of his The Authority work.

The Newsarama article lists the creators' previous work.

Nick Abadzis's graphic novel Laika is an amazing, heartrending piece of work. It's a biography of Laika, the first dog in space.

Laika (the dog), by the way, has a Doctor Who connection. The third Doctor and Sarah Jane recovery the dog's corpse and give it a proper burial in Lawrence Miles' Alien Bodies.

Also, unsurprisingly, Titan's Doctor Who comics won't be available in the UK due to Panini's license for Doctor Who Magazine.

Rich Johnston calls this "ridiculous," but a contract is a contract, and Panini can keep Titan out of their market since they have that right.

Also, there's a Big Finish Audio Story featuring Laika being Evolved by Aliens, which I recently listened to.

Mainline #179 1963: Space Race starring Six and Peri (And the middle part of the Mainline 50th Anniversary Trilogy)

Nick Abadzis also co-wrote The Betrothal of Sontar, which was an okay tenth Doctor and Rose story in DWM.

Elena Casagrande did a lot of art on IDW's Star Trek comics, initially "art assists" for David Messina, but eventually some of her own stories.
