watching Scream 2 the other night noticed he looked a lot like a young Shatner and wondered if hed ever been up for a role in JJs Trek (despite being too old).. google. sure enough he was interviewed/considered by JJ Abrams for an undisclosed character

The mtv article speculates that due to age/grouchy character he must have been up up for Bones or Nero (and also mentions Kirk)..but the fact he actually strongly resembles young Shatner and the way he says he was 'flattered' to be considered but it 'didn't make sense' sounds like it would've been for Kirk but at 39 hed have been about a decade too old for the Academy era Kirk (unless it was for Bones and he means both he and Abrams realised it wouldn't make any sense to cast a guy that looks like Kirk as Bones... and with nero I only ever remember reading that Abrams wanted Russell Crowe and when he passed on the role cast Bana)

EDIT: apologies meant to post this in the Kelvin forum

I guess I can see a vague resemblance if I squint my brain hard enough, but I'm not sure I agree that he looks much like Shatner.

Id support ANY charcter with Tim in it!
For SNW.. How about Commadore/captain Dekker? or Commadore/captain Bob Wesley ???

With his southern twang I could see him pass as McCoy than Kirk; he definitely has the built for the good Doctor, I think.
