Time Out - RTD Interview

That's because Moffat is more of a traditional professional, and RTD is the 21st century equivalent of P.T. Barnum...

What sort of an armchair critic of ‘Doctor Who’ will you be?
'I’ll be monstrous, emailing Steven Moffat saying things like, " 'Doctor Who' died today…"

:guffaw: I'm going to miss RTD's regular Doctor Who interviews. He's always good for some laughs.

Yeah, an interview like this really brings home that I'm going to miss Davies' personality as much as anything else he's brought to the program. Moffat's pretty funny in interviews, but it's a different style to RTD's. Much as with their scripts, actually.

Seconded. I tend to think his writings very hit and miss, but he's always entertaining. That Charlie Brooker special aside.

Gotta admit I'll miss him.He was always a lot of fun in front of the camera and during interviews. Kind of a cross between JNT and JMS. :)

Cool interview. I'm definitely looking forward to the Moffat era, but there's no question RTD brought a great sense of fun and energy to the show-- which is probably just what the franchise needed to get jump started again.

Some interesting stuff about the finale in there:
Is there anything you can tell us about your last episode yet?

People already know that Bernard Cribbins is back. He's in it as a proper companion, for the full two episodes. And to have the Doctor with Wilfred at his side is one of my best decisions, ever. I'm so pleased with it - it's just lovely.

And there's those paparazzi shots of what looks like John Simm - is it him?

Maybe. It's not quite as easy to guess what's happening as you think - there's nightmare sequences, and layers of fantasy, because the Doctor's coming to the end of his time. It's quite interesting to watch things being filmed, and think: 'Oh, I can see what that would look like...'

You've had him save the Earth, the universe, the multiverse... how do you provide a fitting send-off for David's Doctor?

Don't worry. I have.

I knew I'd write David's last episode one day, so I've had this tucked away. You do think: 'How can the stakes get bigger?' And they do. They really do. I don't mean just in terms of spectacle, but in terms of how personal it gets for him. It's such an honour to write for that man, and I really mean that. He's the loveliest man. SUCH a good actor. When it comes to the last episode, there is no way I would let him down.
Of course, the Simm stuff could be good old-fashioned RTD double-bluff.

You know, whatever they do with Donna, I really do have to say that I just love the idea of Wilfred as a proper companion. :)

Yeah that's gonna be fab! :techman:

I doubt it will happen, but I still think it'd be great if Wilf hung on for the 11th Doc's first episode as well.
