I thought this might be of interest to you guys.

We're producing a new webseries called "Humber City". Very much kind of the british equivalent of The Wire is how it's billed in one of their interviews. The series itself is filled with character, action, conspiracy and political unrest. In a city desperately in need of hope and salvation. That's the key, character. We follow this group of people... not just cops... but a variety of people in this city.

We'll tackle a wide variety of issues.

John Carrigan (Star Trek: Phase II) stars... but also Tim Russ is listed as being cast in a recurring guest role.

Already featured on our campaign is an assortment of videos of some of the cast speaking. With much much more to come.

Aren't there enough cop shows all over broadcast and cable already? Dark, light, good, bad, and everything in between.

Don't use the web to develop shows in genres that are overdone, what's the point of that? Do a sci fi show on an unusual topic (even space-based shows are getting overdone with all these web series), or something historical (really historical, pre-1950s). Think of subject matter that nobody else is doing, but that somebody should.

The main problem with traditional TV is its lack of variety. Web shows have the chance to solve that problem. Don't compound it.

Don't do any of these: cop, lawyer, doctor. If I wanted shows in those genres, I could fill my Netflix queue to capacity. I still haven't seen all of The Wire or any of The Shield. Do you really want to compete with that?

Supplement, more like. The Wire is big in the UK, and I wouldn't be surprised - per the OP -the idea is to feed into a desire for more of that kind of cop show. 'The British Wire' is an idea that.... well, has obvious desirability at least in theory.

Really though if you're doing a web series that is set in something other than the present day, you're doing a web series which probably needs a lot of costume work or special effects or both, which aren't gong to be at the standards of broadcast TV.

The main drive behind the series... other than being centred around cops and the people that inhabit this city is to give a much more cerebral experience for the viewer.

British Crime Drama at least based on the stuff i've watched tends to pander... just a touch... with series such as Midsomer Murders, The Bills, Lewis etc. they all dovetail. Don't really get into the heart of it. Don't really show any thought... its case open one week... then closed... generally no consequences from previous episodes.

Presenting a crime drama for the web allows for one key factor most British series don't get the pleasure. There's no censor breathing down your neck. The stories that can be told can be told at their fullest extent. You can tackle subjects that a normal network broadcaster in the UK would say "You can't do that. You can't say that". Why dumb it down?? So they're cops... but the point of this is to go beyond that and show the characters at the core.

To just cover production values... i've personally got experience with attaining for high production values on a low budget.

My visual effects when necessary are being provided under the supervision of Tobias Richter and his team at The Light Works.

We aim to attain the same production values and qualities that you could expect from network TV but at less of a cost. At least 1 or 2 webseries out there spring to mind that achieve that goal... maybe not with their earlier episodes but more so with their later episodes.

I personally was affiliated with one of those productions in its later years so learning from their experiences we can strive to attain the highest production values on a low scale budget.

Yes come ON guys, you suck. You should drop everything and make the show Temis wants you to make. It's a freaking outrage you didn't go to her in the first place, really.

Bob> The one and same. Series of this calibre have been set in major cities. However Hull as a basis felt the ideal choice purely because... regardless of what many may think... Hull has been an underrated and dare I say overlooked city.

The wealth of interesting locations here is something that we felt was worth showing.
