Tight Temple

Viewing the pilot where they moved DS9 from Bajors' orbit to the belt near the wormhole, I got to wondering, could they move DS9 thru the wormhole? We've seen galaxy classes go thru and entire fleets of jem'hadar ships. Would there be a size limit?

In the episode with Q, wasn't the station moving worryingly towards the wormhole, and it was thought that would destroy it?

I could be wrong, I've not seen it for a while.

Yeah, the station could feasibly enter the wormhole (at least according to dialog in Q-Less), but would be torn apart by all the gravimetric stresses ...or something.

I'm sure there's some technobabble that can be done to make it safe to traverse the Wormhole if it had to be done. Maybe the retrofit to make the station an anti-Dominion fortress made it strong enough to withstand Wormhole travel.

Not really much of a point to doing it, though. The station serves as a trade and security hub for both Bajor and the Wormhole, so being on the Bajoran side is best. And for defense, being on the Bajoran side forces Gamma Quadrant ships through a vulnerable bottle neck.

We could fight them over there so we don't have to fight them over here though ;)
