Tiger Woods season over

How sad that he needs more surgery and is out for the year. I had no idea he was playing with multiple stress fractures of the tibia. Yikes.

Come back soon, Tiger!

It's not just that - he's been playing on a ruptured ACL since mid 2007. He injured it while running.

He will be having that fixed during the surgery.

He's kept this all close to the vest.

I think his surgery has a 6 to 9 month recovery. I expect we'll see him back in action at next's years US Open.

You mean he'll miss next year's Masters? This must be some REALLY serious surgery :(

That just goes to show to truly great Tiger is. Walking a course for four days and still playing extremely well with multiple stress fractures. Jeez, I get a cold and I'm on the couch for a couple of days.
Heal up Tiger, I know you need to get back out there as soon as you can and earn some more money to pay the bills.

Yipes! That is too bad. I like Tiger Woods - he's a good role model for kids, IMO. A hard-working young sports star who doesn't act like a moron.

It was actually 5 days, but yeah I agree with you. ;)

Wow, this is the first I've heard of any of this. Good luck to him. I hope he gets back to his game as good as new. :)

Going to have to shoot this over the the Sports forum I guess, but first I have to say I am IN AWE over Tiger's win. To play like that with basically a busted knee and a half-broken leg was an amazing display of mind over matter - sheer determination.

Dude deserves major respect.

I knew from his expression while playing that he was going to out a long time, so I'm not exactly shocked, but still it's sad.

The guy is the Babe Ruth of golf. He is playing on a completely different level than everyone else. Everytime I think there's nothing else he can do to completely awe me, he ratchets his game up again. To be playing at the stratospheric level he's been at for the last year, all the while on a bum knee, then to go out and win a grueling five day US Open, with a stress fracture on top of that? Unbelievable.

And the PGA will never admit it, but right now the TV people are thinking they might as well close up shop for the year. Golf's ratings tank when Tiger isn't playing. A year without him? They must be in agony.

I wish him a speedy recovery. Knowing what we've seen from him in the past, I fully expect him to exceed all the medical expectations as well and be playing at Augusta next year. He is a freak of nature.
