Tidbits from Kirk's viewing of Enterprise

Fully how Kirk ends up at the site just as these major components are being installed... If this is not a coincidence, and the work proceeded at that pace every day, how long would it take to finish the ship? A week?

Perhaps, but cleaning out all of the cockroaches, wasps, ants, spiders, bats, birds, squirrels and Goddenberry knows what other nightmares that made their home in the semi-completed hull while it was left totally exposed to the elements would very likely take months if not years.

That's utterly rediculous. Do we have that kind of problem when we build any large structure?

Well yeah we do, but since we do we also have routine ways of dealing with it. No doubt that survives into "Star Trek's" time so it's no big deal.

That's what I mean. But if it really does only take a week to assemble the parts on Earth, them wasps will have to move fast!

When Kirk pulls up to the construction site, you can see a reflection in the left portion of the shot that seems to be of one of the lighting towers in the right portion. This implies to me that there is some sort of force field 'dome' covering the assembly area.

Ever heard the term lens-flare?
Of course. It would make no sense to add such an 'effect' to this scene.

No?
Strong light-sources which get reflected on the camera's lens... yeah, you're right. Makes no sense at all

Watch this video between the :02 and :03 mark (plus some other instances):

I'm not a real big canon guy, but one thing that irks me a little is the fact that I think they are going with the delta shield being the symbol for starfleet when it was meant as a unit patch for the Enterprise. I think maybe this movie is meant to tie all of the movies together or something, but damn. Also, this shouldn't be the maiden voyage of the Enterprise. Spock had been on it for many years before Kirk came along. Oh well, I'm still stoked to see it!
