Tonight's Episode: Berbils : nature's slaves

The Good:

  • Cooooloooors, pretty, pretty colors. Really, CN should send this episode to the rest of it's cartoonists, to show them how it's done.
  • Children are never cuter, than when they are on meth.
  • Density! A lot happened in this episode.
  • I like the A-team sequence.
  • More nostalgia porn. Giant thingies, Bulldog thingies Hook Mountain and Snow-meow.
  • Toyetic
  • I didn't hate the Berbils. Remarkable

The Bad:

  • Panthro is now also a bio-engineer.

The Ugly:

  • Conquedor is a stupid name. He's not even a conquer.

Overall: I am enjoying the done-in-one episodes far more than the inept story arc. They should stick to this format. They're good at it.

A few months ago, my wife and I got drunk and watched the first 5 or 6 episodes of the original Thundercats. By the time we hit the Berbil episode we were so drunk we could hardly take it. Wife almost peed herself laughing so hard.

We are berbil beeble burble babble berbil bibble boble berbil" :guffaw:

Easily an A+ episode for me. First, from the name, Berbils, you have a hint of what the story might be about. And then we see them. And they're awesomely cheesy, just like in the original series. But there is way more variety in how they are presented ... Some fat, some thing, some with weird shapes, and multi-colored.

I loved that the giants from the original series appeared here. Different origin, but still around and attacking. For this original series fan, it just made it that much more fun.

I was all prepared to love this story, until they sent it skyward, completely surpassing even Larry Kenny doing the "Thunder, Thunder, Thunder, ThunderCats Ho!" line ... That's right.

Snoooooooooww Meow!

I was giddy.

I was also surprised it was on, as I hadn't seen any advertisements advising it was back already. I did pick up the DVD last weekend (it has only the first 8 episodes ... haven't slipped it in the player yet, but there are no bonus features listed), and I noticed last night that an episode had recorded on my DVR. It was like a bonus gift from the television gods, and I greedily ate it all up.

Speaking of ... I rewound and rewound that scene where the kids got their candyfruit ... The expressions, the music, the ... everything. Hilarious, and so true to kids on sugar ... or meth. lol

thought it was a great episode. a nostalgia treat for old fans. the Thunderkittens were great in this ep too.
