Thundercats (ep1*5) *SPOILERS*

[Captain Qwert Jr]

Tonight's episode: Panthro returns. Lay down the funk, Mr Hoffer.

The Good:
-Panthro is awesome as always.
-Much needed exposition
-The Driller: Nostagia-riffic.
-A very Tech Dark Pyramid, somewhat intriguing.

The Bad:
-Lion-O:"I'll prove who's boss, with an incredible display of stupidity!"
-"You plan on becoming a Lion?" Good to see Thundara's racism is internal as well as external.


The Ugly:
-The Thundertank does not appear to be very fuel efficient.
-There had better be an episode that shows Panthro learning the five dozen sciences needed to build a Thundertank.
-Grune's probably right. I wouldn't put it past Claudius to send potential rivals to their deaths.

 

[Showdown]

Great episode. A big improvement over the previous. I'm glad it finally showed how Grune met Mumra. Panthro is a badass. Lion-O is shows off his inexperience. Hey, Lord of the Thundercats, did you really think there's only two guys guarding the mine? A good leader not only leads his people, but also listen as well. Hopes Lion-O learns and grows thourghout the series and end up a good king.

Really liking the show so far, but Lion-O's characterization sure has been all over the place. He learns some big lesson about how to be a leader... and then in the next episode he's just as rash and immature as ever. lol

"What's a samoflange?" HA! I think I nearly woke up my wife laughing at that one!

Interesting that Panthro had a tail when he was younger, but Lion-O and Tigra did not.

It looked to me like Mumm-ra had a cat-like leg. The Thundercats themselves have human-like legs and feet. If I'm right about Mumm-ra, it would seem that he might be of the same species as the Thundercats, only much much older (of course) and therefore a much earlier example along their evolutionary line. The possibilities there intrigue me, especially since he seems to have some interesting tech.

I thought this was a really good episode. I especially enjoyed the getting some more backstory for Grune and Mumm-Ra. Panthro is definitely a badass!
