Tonight's Episode: “Live fast, die young and have a good-looking corpse"

The Good:
-Mighty purty cartoonin' there
-The Petalars. Love children of Dr Suess and Miyazaki. More third earth weirdness.
-More personality from the Lizards.
-Glorious Violence! Lots of killin-, I mean stunning!.... yes stunning. The Thundercats stunned them with their slashing and shooting, yes.
-Thundertank!

The Bad:
-What the Hell kind of lesson is that!?! Lion-O was actually right the first time. Don't they have a quest to go on? Some higher purpose? Is this idiocy the result of three generations raised by TV?
Lion-O:I learned something today. Live life for the day! By dieing like warriors...in a useless frontal assault.
Willy Kit: "But, We haven't lived yet"
Willy Kat: "We're not warriors, either"
Lion-O: "You can stop bullets, can't you? Now live! By Dieing!
-The series, while made with the finest ingredients basic cable can provide, remains flat. There seems to be some intelligence and ambition here, but little villainy, and less heroism.

The Ugly:
-Tigra is stupid. From a story point of view it could be good,or it could be bad, but at the moment it's merely ugly.

Just like last week, I was really impressed with the high production values. They stand in stark contrast to the original (especially when you look at the awful quality of the DVD transfers).

Also just like last week, Lion-O seems to learn the exact opposite lesson that he should from the events he's witnessing, and does so so suddenly it's jarring.

I feel like all of these episodes are bookended as such:

Slight references to arc events--random Third Earth species of the week--more slight references to arc events.

I could use an episode that focuses entirely on the arc to get some momentum going. It'll get old fast (even with the high production values) if it's just ThunderNomads helping out whoever they meet.

Still, my inner eight year-old was thrilled with the series's first use of the Cat signal.

Ok, I think I get what the writers are saying.

In last week episode, the message is : It is wrong to be wreckless and endanger everyone around for revenge.

In this week, their enemies were tracking them down fast. Message: You can't hide from your problems forever. Sometimes you have to fight, even if it means failing.

There is a difference between seeking a dangerous confrontation, and defending yourself from a oncoming threat. Basically, don't look for trouble or run from it.

Anyway, it's cool to see Panthro and the Thundertank.

This is the most morally fucked up cartoon I've ever seen. First we have "blind vengeance is bad, but it works out really well" and now "suicidal attacks FTW". I'm loving this show for all the wrong reasons. I can't wait to see what lesson Lion-O learns next week.

So far, only the first episode was any good....and that wasn't perfect by any means. About ready to jump ship on this one.

Showdown, I am well versed in TV Moral didacticism (This is a Star Trek board after all), so I can reasonable guess what writers wanted to say, but the story choices they are making sweep the legs out from under both the drama and morality of the plots.

I'm sorry. I never meant to imply that I know more than anyone else here. It was just my opinion of what the writers might be trying to make. I couble be right or wrong. After debating why they would say one suicidal act is justified and the other is not my bro and I came up with 2 possibilities.

First, and more likely, the writers are just throwing out random ideas and morals while only really focusing on the strangeness of Third Earth. Oooh look, fish people, aahhh cute plant people. What crazy species will we show next?

The second is that what I posted above. It's the only thing we can come up with that's somewhat logical. I never said it was done well, obvious, or that anyone just don't get it. If my prev post was right, the writers are doing a poor job on conveying the "morals." The way it's handled is too random and clumbsy.

Yeah, my bro and I tend to overanalyze movies and TV shows, especially star trek.
