Thundercats (ep1*3) *SPOILERS*

Captain Qwert Jr

Captain
Captain
Last time on Thundercats! : Justice was delivered on the vile Thundarian empire.

Tonight's Episode!: " TvTrope : The Ahab "

The Good:
-The sea of sands. Third Earth as it should be: A planet whose geographical features were shaped by the combined psychic energies of a million million Junior-High dungeon masters
-WilyKit and Kat continue to be great. Not only did I not wish them the most painful death imaginable like I do most kid sidekick abominations (*Eyes full of hate directed at Voltron Force*), I was actually entertained by them.
- Lion-o's rage was believable, and I like how the others were cowed by him.
- The animation was very good for basic cable. Surprised it lasted past the pilot.

The Bad
- Stock Plot #a32746.88. Still no signs of plot originality.
- I wish they had stretched out Lion-o's anger longer.

The Ugly:
-Since it was clear none of them had healing magic, they should have used AOE's to kill the Boss's tentacles. That way his head would have had less health when it came time to concentrate DPS on it.

-Lion-O: "I learned something today. I should never have allowed blind vengeance to..."
*Just then the monster returns, is easily defeated and the fish get their home back*
Lion-O: "I stand corrected! Blind Vengeance Rules!!! Suck on it, Morality!"

I agree with much of this, but I would add that the music so far has been nothing short of spectacular. I love the shout out to the old theme at the beginning, even though the sequence is much shorter (remember when shows had theme songs and openings?).

Lastly, I dont hate Snarf! It's a miracle.

this was a great episode I thought and cartoon network is not afraid to show torture going on in the pyramid. looking forward to next week.

Indeed the music is good, though I miss the old music. I still remember the excellent individual character themes.
CN actually spent money on this series.

There are Creative Arts Emmys for Outstanding Animated programs. One for stuff under an hour and one for over. But the main awards for animation is the Annies.

Man, Lion O was an ASSHOLE in this episode. I understand the anger but following the captain? Dumb. But I loved the animation on this episode, from the seasand on. And adapting the Moby Dick storyline for this cartoon was pretty cool.

LOL.

Forgot to comment on the actual episode before. I missed a few minutes because I had just gotten off work, but what I saw of it seemed pretty good. It was definitely a couple steps down from the pilot, but it was still solid. I'd give it a 8/10.

it was kinda standard, but it was still a fun and enjoyable episode. Kit and Kat were pretty funny.

Great episode. The action and animation is steller. The kids really shine in this episode.

As for Lion-o's behavior, it makes sense. His father was murdered before his eyes, and his home is destroyed. I would have expected his mental state to change to one of anger and vengance. Having him staying as the optimistic young man from the pilot, would be unrealistic. He saw a parallel and similarities between himself and Capatain Ahab, and he sympathized with him. It's good that he later realised that a being a reckless, vengeful leader is just as bad for his friends as Mumra was. Plus, he didn't want the kids to come along because of his rage, but maybe he also believes the mission is far too dangerous, and it'll be safer for them to stay.

Keep up the good work.

Missed the first 2/3rds of this. Anybody know if it's available anywhere besides cartoonnetwork.com? My cable provider is not on their list, and since it's so small, it's highly doubtful it ever will be.

I'm not sure I'm allowed to do this, but ...

I don't remember if this is against the rules. If it is, I'll delete this post.

I don't think I've ever said this before, but the kids were the best part of the episode. Damn those two are awesome.

As for the episode, it was just the standard first season growing pains. Decent enough, but after a few seasons we'll pretend it doesn't even exist.

Yeah, it's always rather shocking when the kids and pets on a show like this actually aren't so annoying you wish they would die a horrible violent death every time they appear on screen.

The first 30 min episode was nicely animated as well as drudgingly boring and unoriginal. 3 out of 10

RAMA
