This has probably been discussed before, so forgive me, but in the episode "Threshhold" where Paris travels at Warp 10, then mutates into some kind of reptile as a result, why the hell don't they install the drive on Voyager and fly home??! Yes: they would all begin to turn into lizards, but the Doctor wouldn't be affected, and he was able to successfully treat Paris and Janeway (at the end of the episode they were completely fine). So why couldn't he treat the entire crew the same way. If you're going to say he wouldn't have time, he could quickly explain the situation and have the assistance of an army of medical personnel, and they could use industrial replicators to produce one of those anti-proton chamber things for each crewmember.

^Well they didn't know what else could go wrong. And Paris managed to abduct Janeway before they turned into lizards. Would the Doc really be able to keep the whole crew in check if they all went bonkers? And who would deal with any technical problems that might occur?

The staff of the Federation starship which takes Voyager into custody and which has listened to the recorded log entries describing the circumstances and what to do about it?

Unsuspected long-term effects are worrisome, of course, but then they always would be. The Voyager crew could observe and study Janeway and Paris for a reasonable stretch and then decide whether it's worth the risk to return to a Federation with vastly superior medical infrastructure available, though, and still get back years ahead of ever dealing with the Borg.
