They say these episodes are getting back into the nitty-gritty - meaning, more normal stories about sex crimes, as opposed to the outlandish kinds of things we've been seeing lately. I think the stories are actually pretty good, even though Stabler's absence is really dragging it down. (They couldn't even get Chris Meloni to come back for ONE EPISODE to wrap up his character?)
Oh well, at least they made Olivia stop being a fucking crybaby after the first episode. Obviously she's had a thing for Stabler since day one, I'm surprised she was as good friends with his wife as she was.
As for the new characters (Amaro and Rollins)? Surprisingly good. And by that I mean "not soul-searingly awful like the succession of replacement ADAs they've had". I question the need to add them, though, since obviously they could have simply had Benson and Tutuola become partners full-time and the hell with the new stuff. Oh well, there's that younger-demographic crap.
(Ice-T did have one joke in the "Sneak Peek", he said something about "This show doesn't tank until *I* leave."
)
actually I think it might tank even with him. Stabler/Benson was what was keeping this show going. I don't see it lasting another season.
Thoughts?
P.S. Is there some reason why they're waffling on Stephanie March and Diane Neal? Do neither of them know whether or not they want to come back? (they've both been guest stars since they originally left) Or does the network have a case of rectal cranial insertion and thus doesn't know whether *IT* wants them?
