When someone recently read what’s on this link they got a bit annoyed about tax payers money being spent like this, said the artists should be blacklisted and ran off to tell NASA. They then – for some reason – pointed out the press officer who originally got back to them was a “Trekkie” and words would be exchanged with the artists. (though later said the Trekkie thing was just a ‘joke’)

Seems someone else got to hear about it, as the Director of Communications at the Spitzer Centre thanked them – and has today added a new description beneath the image on the NASA, Spitzer and JPL websites – which includes the following. ; )

Sorry, if this ain’t the sort of thing that should be posted here. But apart from being a neat nod and bit of trivia, I also found the eventual outcome pretty funny considering the apparent intention of the person running to tell the teacher.

In the popular TV series "Babylon 5" it is the location of the featured space station; as a nod to the show, hidden within the background nebula in this artist concept is a small silhouette that may be familiar to fans of the series. Can you find it?

Although I assume this means B5 has been destroyed, if the ship in question is operating freely at Epsilon Eridani. Very dark of the artist, in that case. "Artist's interpretation of Epsilon Eridani, and of the nightmarish future he envisions for us all".
