This Is Why I Don't Trust eBay

I will include the link here in a little while, after I see what PayPal says, but a few weeks ago I bought an "Art Asylum "All Good Things" Enterprise-D" from a member. They took their time shipping it and I was gone. The auction closed almost 3.5 weeks ago, they shipped it 13 days after the close of the auction and I just opened it up last night (I was gone from the shipping address).

They sent me a damn used Playments plastic transforming transwarping Enterprise-D! :klingon:

WTF!!!!

I emailed the seller and told them it is NOT an Art Asylum piece and I want to return it and my money as it is not what they adversited it was. I even went back and checked to make sure I actually did read that it said Art Asylum on it, and it did! The pics are also of an AA ship! Not a plastic Playmates one!

was it really that cheap that you opted to buy it from somewhere else besides the normal distributors of items like these like entertainment earth or actionfigure express? i got mine for $40 each. knowing how new they are, any cheaper than that and i wouldn't trust the price.

And I cannot express this enough. Because a particular seller screwed you, you don't "trust eBay" when eBay is nothing more than a place for people to come together to sell stuff? Did they have a high % feedback? Did they have a lot of customers? If you pay attention to what you're doing, you don't have any problems. And as roguephoenix pointed out, you should've just bought it from an online store in the first place. Anything THAT much cheaper than the 40~45 range you really should've been suspicious of. I actually pay attention to details, and I've never had any trouble from items bought from eBay sellers.

I've bought tons of things from eBay, ranging from collectibles, DVD/VHS/LaserDisc/vinyl/CDs, electronics (including used CRTs that had to be shipped on palletes), a couple of guitars (and pickups, replacement parts). I've made over 500 purchases on eBay going by my buyer feedback, and I've never been screwed over or received broken items on any of my purchases.

Don't blame eBay, blame the seller. If you contact eBay or PayPal, they might be able to do something about it. I'm fairly sure there's rules against misrepresenting items. I've never had to deal with their fraud department myself, so I couldn't tell you exactly what to do, though.

$37 for the ship, where online are they from a vendor for $40?

98% positive from 112 reviews.

I do pay attention and the price was in line with most others.

Did the original listing come with pictures? Were the pictures of the model you wanted or the one that was sent? Has the seller responded yet and said he'll fix he situation?

:D

I know it's little comfort, but I've seen the mint in box transwarping Enterprise-D go for as much as $90 on eBay.

Call me a cynic if you must, but with only 112 reviews, I wouldn't have bought anything from him/her. I'm not comfortable with any seller with less than 500 reviews. Especially if they've been a seller for more than a couple of months.

If they've been a seller for less than a couple of months, then I'm uncomfortable with them for a whole different reason.

No, eBay's okay, I don't trust Paypal.

J.
Bingo.

I got an email back from the seller saying they will address the issue after holiday. WTF!!!!!!!

Ok, so where can I get the Transwarping D and the normal D AA from an online vendor for the good prices you guys have said can be found? The 40-50 range?

And the pics on the listing were for sure an AA ship.

Report it to ebay, start contacting buyers in their other auctions. theyll eventually respond to you. Report it as fraud to the BBB. Internet fraud is a valid crime. Call the police in their area and report it.

Not trying to say anything about you specifically, but with that kind of attitude, how do you expect anyone to get that many reviews?

I understand what you are saying though, respect is important if you want to sell something on ebay. I tried helping someone who wanted to start doing just that, they made dream catchers at home and wanted to sell them. Unfortunately it never took off because no one wanted to buy from someone with so little rep or reviews.

i got mine from actionfigure express for $40 each. i got both of them. they also have the exclusive for the all good things ship... so they say. i don't care, i got a bargain, tracking number, fast transaction, degree of reliability.

by the way, just open a ticket with paypal citing fraud. take a screen shot of the listing with item images and description. i've gotten my money back that way. however, i don't stop there. to make the seller's life complicated, i call the police on them. i have had this happen several times and each time the police where the seller lives did something about it. i try to make sure to make an impact on the seller as much as possible. you can also open other ebay accounts, buy their item and ditch the account. they will have to pay all their fees to ebay for the sale, but they get no money. i do more stuff like finding out where they physically are and such but i won't get into that. lol. people screw me over, i try to make sure they think twice about doing it again to someone else.

Shit, I bought 1985 TZ series and they sent me the awful 21st century set instead, and I STILL had to pay postage to send the damn thing back before I could get credited! The shipping x 2 should have been charged back to the idiot committing the fraud, but Nooooo.

Is there any particular reason you bought the '85 TZ set (good choice, BTW; it's my favorite out of all three versions :) ) from Ebay rather than places like Amazon or Best Buy.com?

Exactly.

Sorry you got screwed, man, but this probably could have been easily avoided with a little common sense. I've been using eBay for close to a decade now, and I can honestly I've had far more good experiences than bad ones, and that's because I tried to be smart about what I wanted to buy, who I wanted to buy it from and how much I would realistically have to pay for it.

Again, sorry you got screwed over.

I've had my share of good and bad in the past, I simply do not like non face to face transactions. I thought I would try again with that place, now I see why I won't again.

Y'all can use it all you want, but I sure as hell won't be.

Peace, I'm done with that place.

And I opened an investigation with PayPal, but so far all they care about is that I got the goods in the mail.
