I thought newcomers might like to see what the Trekbbs science fiction forum used to look like. Unfortunately, clicking on the threads to read the posts does not work, but you can at least read the thread titles:

I hadn't remembered that "Caption This" had been going on since 2003.

"Who remembers Space: Above and Beyond" could pop up nowadays as well. Or maybe not, because even less people remember the show in 2010.

"Dune: Book vs Film" or "IYO what makes good/bad sci-fi?" is something that never gets old too.


But what the hell is "Now & Again"?? There are two threads on it in 2000! And apparently, it was threatened by cancellation.

Might be time to do it again.


And there are Superman topics in each of those years, just as there are today. I guess big blue is timeless.

Farscape had a thread mention in 2000 & 2003

I had a loading issue with the other 2 in the OP, Those are the ones I'd be curious to see cause I didn't join till Dec 2003 so 2004 would be my first full year. Was interested to see if I recalled any threads that might show up on those two links. Guess I'll try later.

Ditto. I was almost going to comment about how the 2003 archive was wrong, and that big blue was still active then. Apparently not.

Loved this one from 2000, Galaxy Quest: Where is the Outrage!

Funny, but I actually remember that thread from when it was active. The poster was offended because Galaxy Quest portrayed Trekkies (well, Galaxy Quest fans) as deluded enough to believe the show was real and the main space ship was really flying around out in space. I think everyone who responded told him to just relax and enjoy the movie.

Of course I can't remember anything actually important for more than five minutes, but TrekBBS threads from ten years ago are still fresh in mind. Yikes.

I like all those annoying Enterpriser posts where he just HAD to pick a stupid icon for the thread . I sure do like our system now where all the threads have the clean-looking red/blue envelopes instead. Funny how 10 years later our topics are basically the same.
