Thirty Years in the TARDIS

Dinosauricon

Lieutenant
Anybody remember this 1993 special? It was a much better celebration of WHO's anniversary than Dimensions in Time.

Although I don't think it's been released on DVD (Where it would be an extra, probably) it was pretty nifty. Among the cool bits were the Cybermen walking down St.Paul's Cathedral in the EARTHSHOCK style costumes, a new look at the Dalek Emperor set, and of course, interviews with a lot of people, many of whom (Jon Pertwee, Douglas Adams, John Nathan Turner etc.) who have left us.

Yeah, I have it on VHS and I agree it's one of the best Who videos out there...

I have this on VHS too. It was a good documentary, but I wish I had a copy of the documentary that was shown in the late 70's on BBC2, which featured Tom Baker.

Sweet!

Anyone ever seen The Story of Doctor Who from the BBC, back around 2000/2002? It was introduced by the guy who does all the Dead Ringer Tom Baker impersonations. The rest of the time, it just went era-by-era, and had interviews with, practically, everyone. The reason this one is so cool for me, is because of the way it's presented. It's not another "oh the 80's sucked" theme, rather just a casual look at the entire series (Hartnell - McCoy), casual chats with all involved, and there's a brief second or two where you can visibly tell Tom Baker is choking up when he says "Best time of my life". Powerful stuff for an old fanboy like myself... :techman:

There was also an interesting 1988 documentary on "Silver Nemesis" done by American PBS stations (I think). It's interesting to see the production of the story, and also McCoy ranting about how production was always rushed and cheap in those days.

The 30 years documentary also covers an interesting aspect from the McCoy years, Sophie Aldred's accident in the Battlefield water tank.
