Things that frustrate us all

I have heard this argument come up before in this debate many times. No offence to you personally, but it has always struck me as one of the more selfish arguments I have heard. If your reason for having children is because you're expecting free nursing support later in life, then you probably shouldn't be having children at all.
Being Gen X, it's pretty crazy that parents that had my generation pretty much had us and then ignored us. My parents only really had time for me when they were at end of life.

Maybe it's selfish, but that how we were raised.

Didn't realize that my childhood was messed up for a very long time.

Yes. That's why we can cope with things. We learned to just deal with it. We did stupid stuff, learned from it and went on with our lives. I was lucky in that my Dad made enough money that my Mom didn't have to work. However, once we were old enough, she did a lot of volunteer work--that's the type of person she is--always giving. She gave us door keys so we could let ourselves in after school. It was a 15/20 minute walk through a very safe neighborhood.

I now live in a nice subdivision, and I watch kids get off the bus, and their Mom meets them, puts them in the car, and they drive home--a whopping ten houses away. Christ on a cracker.

For some reason at least one kid in my neighborhood sometimes gets dropped off by the bus right in front of his house ( and he doesn't live at the top of the street ). I don't understand it.

Can't let 'em walk by the houses of the un-prescreened people, anything could happen! Molesters jumping out of bushes, et cetera...

I have several thoughts here:

1. I think it's a good idea people get kids in their 30's, I've read so many stories of people who regret having children too early

2. Fuck you, Karen. I dare you to go to a nursing home and ask how many people see their (grand)children on days besides their birthday and the holidays.

3. I'm not even bothering to watch that YouTube video because I know it will make my blood boil, this is most idiotic thing I've heard besides vaccines causes autism and all the TikTock doctors during covid

1. Don't forget that's it's extremely insulting towards people who are infertile

2. I agree with you, children are not a retirement plan

OK, first I will say, I actually agree with your points here. However, in addition to being a poster, I also have a job here, and it would be dereliction of me not to do it. So it is time to don the mod hat.

Everything you said was fine, except for this. You can say this regarding government officials or whoever, but you can't say it to a fellow poster here. It is an unambiguous example of flaming. It is OK to refute the points the other poster makes, but not to flame them. Post, not poster.

Because of this, I am issuing an infraction for flaming. Comments to PM.

I decided to not have kids after my parents told me about my ADD and APD (Auditory Processing Disorder) diagnosis when I was 8 or 9 years old in 1992. At the time I was wondering why I was different from the other kids in school. They also told me that I inherited it as my uncle (dad's youngest brother) also has it. Found out years later I was diagnosed with a bunch of other things as a kid, and I found those out after I was diagnosed with Asperger's, now autism. Turns out I mostly inherited that from my mother's side. Also, I am on SSDI and am living with my mother as I cannot handle significant amounts of work (I also have health issues).

Sorry about that, I got carried away

Twitter is getting on my nerves. This posting, etc. setup is a hot mess. Got hit by the new limit when I wasn't anywhere near it. Thankfully it's ok, but it's annoying. Other people got hit worse by it and it's just a dumpster fire.

My job coach is on paternity leave, I don't know why they they hired someone during his leave, it's only a month. It's so pointless, why would you apply for a job that last a month? And his replacement annoys me, he should visit my internship. I've send him a few emails suggesting dates for him to come, no reply to any of them. I hoped to see him while visiting my social worker, no dice.

She did call him though and he should phone me today, but I'm not going to pick up. While my social worker called him, he said he prefers phone calls and not an overflowing inbox of emails. Great, I have a boomer as job coach. He should apply to a job like a gardener, or work in a warehouse if he hates emails that much. I prefer emails, nothing annoys me as much as calling several times back and forth as each tries to get a hold of the other.

This phone call achieves nothing, I might as well wait for my job coach to get out of paternity leave, it's not that long anymore

So I've been keeping a journal of books that I read with a TWSBI fountain pen. I really like writing with it, but because it stores a lot of ink, I haven't changed ink in it. I was thinking about getting another TWSBI fountain pen to fill with a different ink color. I really like the Iceberg pen they have out, but it's not available in EF or F nib size. So I'm looking at other fountain pens. Ideally, I'd like three. One for red ink. One for blue ink. And one for black ink. I really like the color for both Oxblood and Writers Blood.

When an episode of a series ends with showing clips of what's going to happen in the NEXT episode....
I just finished "Killing Eve", and they did this on every episode except on the next to last one.
I could never really relax and just watch when getting closer to the end of an episode, i was on my toes getting ready to jump on my laptop and click the next-episode-button.
Who on earth thought that this is a good idea?

Dr Who just for one example had been doing that for years and years. It did get annoying at times

The worse is shows in the 80s, where they'd spoil the episode with a trailer right before the episode started.

Check out A-Team or any other series during that period of time. Super frustrating.

And why is Trainspotting $50 for the 4K version? That's crazy.

Here's another one. I looked at the KOBO deals this morning, and the book was $2.99. I checked my library, and they didn't have it. So I figured I'd buy it when I came home. When I got home, it wasn't on sale any longer. You'd think sales would last until at least the end of the day.

Health Insurance companies making everything so damn difficult and expensive.
United Healthcare told me that they automatically deny all ambulance rides. Then, you have to go through a process with them to get them paid assuming you didn't pay the bill already.

Yep, healthcare is super frustrating.
