These Star Trek Academy novels... This 4 real? O.o

Re: These Star Trek Academy novels... This shit 4 real? O.o

thank you . love doctor who . Why is this here and what does it have to do with starfleet academy?
It's here because I asked if David CGC was talking about a big or little w in when he wrote "Who". And it has nothing to do with Starfleet Academy, they were simply answering my question. After that the thread went off topic, which is a very common occurrence here. TBH most of the time when it goes off, it's alot more interesting than it was when it was on topic.

I'm well aware of Jean Airey's fanfic novella; I've made a hobby of collecting editions of it. And there are other fanfic writers who have crossed Doctor Who and Star Trek successfully, such as Paul Gadzikowski.

But an official crossover? It's unlikely to happen for the reasons I've mentioned above.

Define "official". Ishmael, one of the early TOS novels, features cameos by the Doctor (along with a dozen other TV characters).

I recall references in Ishmael to Metebelis crystals and the Kasterborous galaxy, but I don't recall the Doctor himself appearing. And the book made reference to literary characters as well, such as the Hokas from the series by Poul Anderson & Gordon R. Dickson.

Sanctioned by both copyright holders. There have always been wink-nudge appearances, but that's a vastly different thing than the Trek/Who equivalent of JLA/Avengers, y'know? :)

I remember a scene from a Trek novel a very long time ago where somebody set up a holographic projector in the Enterprise rec room, and the first thing they showed on it was a blue police box phasing in, then a man with curly hair and a long scarf stepped out of it and asked, "Pardon me, is this Heathrow airport?"

My Enemy, My Ally, by Diane Duane. :)

I don't see it happening, for the same reason that Marvel and DC crossovers are unlikely for the foreseeable future -- why should one company spend its time and creative energies and share its characters to prop up the other?

True enough, but I did enjoy the Avengers/JLA cross-over a couple years back. Wouldn't mind seeing (no matter how unlikely to happen) an Invaders/Justice Society* crossover set in the WW2 era.

(*or would that have been the All-Star Suadron?)
Either one would work. Though the JSA and it members are part of The All-Star Squadron.

Right. One of my favorites, which I haven't read in a while. I'll have to rectify that soon.
