    Oh boy ... just received.

Immediately I delved into the chapter on disfavorite episode "And the Children Shall Lead" -- a massive 30 pages. Very, very interesting. ("What were they thinking?" indeed.)

    Christmas came early!

Okay, how does this happen? I thought I was on a mailing list to be notified when Volume Three was available to order and I've heard nothing. And I can't find any link to actually order the book or one that says it's even available yet.

Did you give to their Kickstarter campaign?

    Their FB page says:

"Thank you Kickstarters! Hardback copies of THESE ARE THE VOYAGES: TOS, SEASON THREE are now being printed, thanks to you. And you will be the first to receive them. After all Kickstarter rewards have been fulfilled, SEASON THREE will be made available to others, on or shortly after December 15. Stay tuned, the story of the making of STAR TREK is about to get even more interesting."

I got notice that my copy has shipped. I expect I'll be crossing the border to visit my U.S. mailbox in the next few days.:)

I enjoyed the first two volumes and I'm looking forward to this one. Despite flaws they do telegraph a sense of what those long-ago-days were like.

I don't respect his writing and his dubious scholarship. This makes me suspect of anything he writes that isn't a direct quote.

Weird he puts "TOS" on the cover. "Star Trek" and the 60s E would communicate the subject of this tome, wouldn't it?

People interested in Trek but less into it then we, might be mystified by "TOS."

    Eh, whatever.

I'd have preferred a single volume containing just the memos, the ratings and no editorializing. Let the facts speak for themselves - the reader can fashion their own narrative.

    Yes please.

Even just the memo's would do me fine.

I never liked the "TOS" moniker anyway. I refuse to use it. It's not like we're talking CSI here...it's the only show called simply Star Trek. A person can say The Next Generation, Voyager, or whatever, with perfect clarity.

When in doubt, the tried-and-true word 'original' suffices quite nicely. :)

Indeed. I'll not waste a single red penny of my hard earned paycheck on such substandard work produced under suspicious publication circumstances. I mean, Marc Cushman is a goddamn pornographer. I'd link to proof of same, but I suspect that's probably against the rules here, so do a little Googling and you'll find that Mr. Cash Markman is a pseudonym for Cushman.

While that's certainly not enough of a reason to admonish the man, his inattention to factual detail lack of journalistic integrity, proper editing, and altogether shitty attitude when confronted about same are enough for me to say "No thanks."

Likewise, as has been discussed elsewhere, the likelihood that there's some sort of fraudulent activity taking place behind the scenes with this book are enough reason to speak out about it as well.

Gee, I wasn't prepared for all the vitriol when I posted I was glad to get this.

It does have new interviews with 3rd season writers (Jean Lisette Aroeste, Judy Burns & Chet Richards, Joyce Muskat) and directors (Marvin Chomsky, Ralph Senensky, Vincent McEveety), and new material from David Gerrold and D.C. Fontana. For me, that alone makes it worth reading.

My copy might still be in California. I hate USPS tracking. You can never tell. Shipping it to my office and it better get here by Tuesday because I'm gone the rest of next week. Granted, I still have a few chapters in volume 2 and Return to Tomorrow to read before I can get to this but I'll just feel better with copy in hand.

If you like something you have to grow a thick skin for those who'll disagree with you when you share it online.

I'm wasn't trying to tell anyone what to do. I was just pointing out some relevant information about questionable circumstances surrounding the publication of the book to those who might value knowing where their money is going over getting their Trek fix.

Especially if you only like 14% of something and refute the rest of it.
