I loved this when i saw it on the onion before iron man was released, it was genius and above all, so dead-pan serious that you had to remember it wasnt an actual entertainment news.

So, watcing the Iron Man features the other day it occured to me, it would be absolutely fantastic if they gave our long awaited Star Trek, and, due to the fact the trailer wouldve been out for almost 6 months before the movie, it would be an oppurtunity to grab.

There have been loads of Star Trek features on the onlion over the years, a fave of mine being 'Captain Kirks life flashing before a dying Trek fans eyes.' instead of his own.:lol:

But it would be pretty cool for The Onion to take a similar spin on a fantastic piece of 'News'. Not exactly the same but similar.

I have a feeling if The Onion does a satirical piece on this new film, it will probably be directed at the overly-pedantic fandom that exists on this board and even more so on other Star Trek-related forums.

Although it seems The Onion has already taken that approach with Star Trek and its excessively zealous fans many time before, I'm sure they are clever enough to find a fresh way of poking fun of Star Trek fandom in connection with the long wait for the release of this film.

Sorry guys, been busy.

Thats where this thought occured to me. Its been scrutinised so much over the past year, ill admit i was part of it, but not near as bad as some.

The fact it was nit-picked before anyone even saw an image was the funniest. And the fact that it is still being torn to pieces in good and bad ways keeps us Trek fans in here even the more subject to a piss-taking.

In sci-fi fandom im betting this along with maybe Watchmen, is the most anticipated movie of 2009. the following that it has had is astonishing, so large infact that it would be the ideal spoof base for an online or print based spoof news.

but hey, were Trek fans, were used to piss takers, non fans and certain producers alike.:p

:lol::guffaw::lol:

Ive never seen that one, i have seen many over the past ten or so years.

Wasnt there one about Star Trek introducing an alien with a completely different forehead, and the fans being up in arms about it? :lol:

I think in the summer of 2001, one of my favorite Onion lists was about why people should look forward to a brand new series called "Enterprise." Best reason: "Star Trek finally returns the white man to his rightful place at the Captain's Chair."
