The Young Pope

What'd everyone think of The Young Pope?

I have mixed feelings. On one hand the visual direction and cinematography was beautiful. One the other hand the story veered a bit much toward the soapy and melodramatic. It's hard to figure out what they are saying or if they are saying something about the politics of the papacy or whether the show is a Fellini-esque satirical portrait.

I say jury's still out.

I'm 6 episodes in and have found it to be equal parts fascinating, beautiful, frustrating, laughable, confusing, hysterically funny and bizarre.

It's like they took a political drama and asked David Lynch to add notes.

I rather love it, for all its obvious faults. And Jude Law will likely never be better
