The WONDERFUL things in life

Zulu Romeo

I need cheering up today. What better way to do so than to think of all the good things in life...

For example, dogs. I love dogs. :adore: I love the way they scamper around, gaze up at you with their eyes, munch away at their food with delight, the way they bark and sing and growl, and the way they sleep.

I also love all the good people I interact with online, both here, on Twitter, on Facebook, and on other places. There really are good people out there, among all the bad ones.

Food. I love delicious food. I have started developing a thing for noodles. Noodles and curry gravy: the food of champions.

Stargazing. On a clear night I can see forever. I just want to see an aurora at some point, then things will be even more wonderful.

A good pun. There are lots of terrible puns out there, but a single good pun is all I need to have my day made.

What else do you find wonderful?

Rather than repeat things you've already mentioned (though the love of dogs can never be mentioned too often) I'll add to your list, if I may.

The internet. Thanks to the internet I've connected and made friends with people who share my views and interests, people who I would otherwise have never met as some live halfway across the world. Even those who live just a few hours away would have remained strangers without the internet.

Living a mere half-hour drive from the centre of Dartmoor National Park. I'm lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country.

A good book. Lots of good books. Bookcases full of good books. Also the occasional trashy book, because the mind needs junk food on occasion as well.

Beautiful yarn, and finding the perfect knitting or crochet pattern for it (not as easy as it sounds).

Baseball, booze and SKYLINE CHILI  tend to spring to mind. Oh, and Mindy Kaling. :adore:

But the greatest thing in my life right now is the fact that my dad's total hip replacement went well and he's coming home this weekend. :techman:

Seeing the ocean. Something takes over me, when I can see as far as I can see. So far, I've only seen the Atlantic and the Pacific but the both took my breath away.

Krispy Kreme Donuts.

I've never had them before. Lots of people I know swear by them, but I may need to see for myself...

Believe you me, a hot Krispy Kreme Donut is one of the best things you have ever had in your mouth.

True. The thing is, in retrospect, if I never tried Krispy Kremes, then all the crappy donuts would taste better. I used to live near a Krispy Kreme bakery. Ever since the first bite of their glazed donut, no other donut could compare. They're horrible for you but you haven't tried a donut, until you have a freshly baked Krispy Kreme donut.

Little things that make all the difference:

Playing with the grandkids, especially when they're old enough to laugh at your jokes--but not yet old enough to realize how corny they are.

A really good Reuben sandwich.

Quiet time with the wife after a long day.

Mexican food.

Having both parents still living as you approach your senior years.

Watching your kids be successful in their adult lives (and not saying 'I told you so' when they repeat back things you tried to teach them when they were younger--they really do listen after all).

A really good pizza.

Really bad old westerns on tv in the middle of the night.

Nachos.

Sending the grandkids back to their parents after you've spoiled the crap out of them.

Family, friends, dogs, cats and bacon.

Good books, Star Trek, and ice cream.

Oh, and yarn, thx McCloudt!

Something else that is wonderful today: a working computer again. And, it seems, it's working even better than before. The fingerprint sensor and the onboard keyboard lights finally work and everything. :D

So far, no more unusual errors. Early days yet.

Good books
Learning new things
Sweet touch between friends and lovers
This Forum - no lie
Favorite foods and drink
Family laughter
And best of all,
Trying to be good and helpful to others

Snuggling up with a ridiculously fluffy cat, while sitting on the couch, watching "Magnum, PI."
