The Whispers and the Waiting Room

We know that the Whispers are ghosts who "can't move on".

Smokey said some things (later turned out to be lying, but still) about how "In order to leave, we need to all leave together."

Flafterlife Desmond said he wanted to leave, but he had to get all (or most, at least) of the others together before that could happen.

So I'm wondering.....was the Flafterlife, or "waiting room", essentially causing the whispers this whole time? Were the Losties able to experience it because some part of their being was tethered to the island even after they left?

"Live together or die alone" is a common theme in the show, and there was a final spin put on the theme in the Flafterlife.

It's possible, but I think unlikely based on what Michael said a few episodes ago. The whispers seem to be people trapped in limbo who can never move on.

The actor for Michael said his character was trapped for all eternity as a whisperer, doomed for his evil actions.

I can live with that. I fucking hated Michael.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALT!!!"

I'm guessing after a few years listening to that kind of jungle noises in the night Ben-Hur decided to free him because that's just so irritating to listen.

Ana Lucia was a ghost and yet she was in the afterlife so I'm not sure the actor that portrayed Michael is right about them being stuck there forever.

Same with Isabella, what could she have possibly have done to be eternally stuck on the island as a ghost? Or was she only really there at the end of Ab Aeterno to give Hurley and Richard the message about MiB, and able to move on.

Are we sure she was a ghost? Are we sure she wasn't MiB?

Then we'll use Charlie. Either way, I don't think they're stuck there forever (even if Michael is stuck there at the moment). It is noteworthy that he wasn't in the flash sideways at all.
