That's pretty been what has been happening this season with the cast being stuck in the Prison and Woodbury. We have had barely any outdoor location shooting.

But the original comic book series was also set at the prison and Woodbury at this point in the story.

If it's (most likely) just AMC dicking around, wanting to cut budgets etc, then fuck them.

However, on the off-chance there was conflict with Kirkman, then Kirkman is far, far more important.

Why? He writes the source material, but he's not an experienced tv writer or show runner, it there's conflict Kirkman should be kicked off the show.
