The Vulcans

Every time I see this thread's title, I think that Colt and Number One are getting their revenge....

It is illogical - but that doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't logically necessary, as strange as that might sound. If you allow time to be set aside from productivity, research, etc, for celebration of a significant occasion, then you need some way to decide what is significant enough to warrant doing that. Which is purely a subjective matter, and not logical. It might be logical to acknowledge that even Vulcan psychology needs *some* ceremony and ritual, and therefore the leadership may have chosen specific (and in the case of the Pon Farr ritual, maybe even partially necessary) ones to observe. But even those would be a logically mandated and observed *break in logic* to maintain the wetware machine requirements.
My sources for chart info indicate that "China in Your Hand" didn't chart in the U.S. Hot 100 at all. Strictly a one-hit wonder here.
If you're looking at Wikipedia, I don't know where their information is coming from, but I specifically *remember* both "China in Your Hand" and "Soul Destruction" hitting in the 50s.

My first source of chart information is this site, they're usually pretty reliable, but it's possible that their info isn't complete in this case. It was backed up by the lack of a U.S. chart position in the Wiki article, though.
