The Voyage Home in 4:3?

What’s the best way to watch TVH in 4:3 with pan-and-scan? Was it ever released in 4:3 on DVD? Or do I have to go back to the Laserdisc?

I have no idea I’m afraid but I’m genuinely interested why you’re looking to watch it in 4:3?

You can replicate the cropped picture effect by playing with your DVD players settings.

Cropping wouldn't replicate the pan and scan process.

I can't find any evidence of a full screen Voyage Home DVD so you may have to go back to laserdisc or VHS.

The first official DVD release of TVH from 1999 was indeed widescreen.

If you don't already have a working LaserDisc player, It's probably easier and cheaper to get a hold of a VCR than an LD player.

I have a 4:3 TV in my man cave that I only use for watching DVD's of Star Trek episodes in glorious SD.

It was never released in 4x3 on DVD. In fact, the very first DVD of TVH featured a 'making of' special that was produced for the 'Director's Series' and it features Leonard Nimoy specifically talking about why he prefers widescreen over fullscreen.
