The USS Kongo ( NCC-71810 ) was an Galaxy-Mark-II Class Starship Starfleet starship in service during the 24th century. (The Kongo Adventures by James Gulleson)
The Kongo was launched just after the USS ENTERPRISE-D departed on its rescue mission to Farpoint Station in the year 2363.
However several years later, changes in policy would see funding restored and several other vessels were built to the same specifications of the USS Galaxy class Starship NCC-70637, thire were 6 Starships constructed and confirmed in name of the USS Galaxy Class.
The Starships were put into service in the early 24th century.

The Federation with increasing the overall number of Galaxy Mark-II Class Ships during the late 2360's due to later Borg incursions and the rise of the Dominion threat.
The USS Kongo NCC-71810, was the first of the 2nd batch of Galaxy class starships to be built and commissioned by 2363, The Kongo was under the Command of Captain JL William in late 2364 and Captain Donavon Burke Didrik in late 2374 after the Tango Mission with admiral Edward Jellico commanding the Mission to destroy the Dominion ship yard while under command of the New Heavy Command Cruiser USS Miranda and Captain Jason Aubrey of the Excelsior refit Starship USS Intrepid NCC-38957.
Meanwhile, Starfleet was underattack at the time from the Changelings, who launched a significant, but covert, attack on Earth in late 2373, disguised as a bombing in Antwerp, Belgium, which marked the first episode of the two-part "Homefront"/"Paradise Lost" Deep Space #9 storyline.
