The University of Lagos

I would have thought there would be a topic on this already.

A Nigerian post grad student has proved, amongst other things, that

- Pi is not 22 / 7
- Magnets prove that gay marriage is unnatural

And he expects to win a Nobel Prize for his researches.

This is more :wtf: than Miss Chicken's girlfriend checklist guy, I reckon.

But it's reassuring to know that if I fail to do well at university here, or maybe if I get jack of research and hard work, I can always go to the University of Lagos and earn a Doctorate by proving that the earth circles the sun, or that marriage between a man and a goat is a natural and godly thing.

(I sense I'm going to get into trouble for that last line)

We are talking about this elsewhere on the board but I would love to see the Misc crowds reaction to it.

I really do not know which belief by this guy is the silliest - the magnets belief, the Pi belief or is belief that one day he will get a Nobel prize.

Well he is correct in asserting that pi is not 22/7. And he's heard of transcendental numbers too, well done lad. But how on earth can he possibly think that he's the first person in history to prove that pi is transcendental???

Maybe he's the first person to have developed a proof that he understands.

Oh dear God!

Because magnets are like people!

I like his assertion that you never see male animals having sex with male animals given homosexuality has been well documented in the animal kingdom.

And watching TV with the lights out is bad for your eyes! Who knew!!

I kept waiting for the bit where he said he had $65billion to get out of the country...

He mentioned that he didn't have enough money to publish in international journals, which I thought was an interesting comment. Didn't realise you had to pay to get your articles published in scholarly works. Anyway, if we all send him USD$15,000 through western union that should just about cover it I reckon?

It looks like the university's server has crashed.

It would seem that he is even wrong about no African ever winning the Nobel for science as an Algerian (Claude Cohen-Tannoudji) has won in Physics and an Egyptian (Ahmed Zewail) in Chemistry.

So analogies are now scientific proof? Sheesh! Yes, Nick, this is more :wtf: than the girlfriend list, and that's saying a lot. I feel bad for the university.
