Thoughts?

Not trying to be rude but why would anyone be motivated to read through all that stuff when there's no evidence that you have. What are your opinions?

My OP explicitly states, "Below are some sources to look through at ones own discretion" and then provides a list of sources concerning the topic. This would be of interest to an intellectually curious person who may or may not be familiar with the model (particularly as it pertains to Physics and the underlying structure of reality--which I would think someone on a Star Trek forum would be interested in for rather obvious reasons).

Note: I am not stating an opinion either way in my OP, I created a Motion that another member could take a position either For or Against

Why should others care to have an opinion when you, the OP, can't be bothered to express one?
Exactly.

Maybe the entire universe doesn't actually exist. This is what not existing is like

Yes it is.
No it isn't. This is just a philosophical musing by a bunch of physicists too smart to think they might be talking out of their asses, but in fact this debate was settled long ago. Really, it's just a retread of the "reality is just an illusion" concept first presented by the Allegory of the Cave. And the answer to that concept is "I think, therefore I am."

"Am I an illusion?" if I am conscious of having asked myself this question, then no, I am not. It's possible that everything else in the universe is an illusion, and I can't know for sure since I cannot share the experiences of everything else... on the other hand, the only experiences I DO have tell me that I am real, so I have no knowledge of ultra-realistic illusions actually existing. I can safely assume that everything else is as real as I am until I have evidence to the contrary.

The universe is not a hologram.

OP are you thinking this world is some kind of simulcra like in the Matrix or the 13th Floor? Go watch that one actually. It's a good movie and entertaining.

You can be assured it's not a hologram. This universe is very much a real thing made of people, planets, and stuff in space. All real tangible stuff. Mind you the Earth is flat so there is that awful drop off the edge when you sail across the sea. We don't know where those boats go. :)

You really need to educate yourself:

I know of that..... I just don't buy it.
I assume what you mean is that you reject it because you don't understand it. Admittedly, it is a hard concept to grasp. It doesn't mean that the universe is an actual hologram but that it has some equivalent properties that aid interpretation of some of its features.

A hologram is a three-dimensional projection made of light/photons. Touching my desk, it feels more solid than mere photos. The universe is not a holo, and there ain’t any forcefields like The Doctor’s.
