The Undiscovered Country felt like a big episode of Scooby Doo.

Wonderlust King

I just rewatched it last night, and It really felt like I was watching Scooby Doo. Right down to the end where they pull the mask off the dead "klingon" it was one big episode of scooby doo. I mean i still like the movie but It sort of cheapened it for me. I actually re-did my list of favorites because of it and it fell behind First Contact. Mine new order is 4, 2, 8, 6, 3, 1, 7, 9, 5, 10

To be fair, they cut the mask bit out of the theatrical version.

It's too bad Colonel Odo wasn't alive to say, "And I would have succeeded if not for you damn kids!"

(I guess they never said "damn" on Scooby-Doo, but it's been a long time.)

Wasn't it convenient the magic Trek sliding doors decided to hang open long enough to record Kirk's "Klingon bastards" line?

This movie is FILLED with moronic coincidences and silliness plus protracted oddball timelines. Didn't care for it from first-run theater (in the deep, deep snow), and still won't own it.

^^The movie is overrated IMO. It just feels "off" in so many ways. The main thing it has going for it is that it's a better ending to the series than TFF. I would have preferred to leave things at the end of TVH.

I don't think it cheapens the film, and I don't think it's a "Scooby Doo" ending. However, it is strange that once we've established a Klingon-Starfleet conspiracy, they would need to dress West up as a Klingon. Surely there would have been plenty of real Klingons who would jump at the chance to shoot the president?

It doesn't really bother me though. All Trek films have plot holes and strange inconsistencies. Still my second favourite film.

Yes, but that would require further negotiation with "the enemy". And therein is the irony of the movie: that renegade members of Starfleet, and Romulan and Klingon Empires had been cooperating to prevent... longterm cooperation. Suggesting that cooperation was going to be possible for everyone.

Yeah, but the important question remains: Did Valeris say "and Nunclus" or "and others"?

:D

Uhh...You might have just explained why this was my favorite movie when I was a youngster. I loved Scooby Doo.
