The True Story Behind Galoob's Failed TNG Toy Line

The Galoob TNG toyline remains my favorite Trek toyline to this day. Sure, there have been better toylines since then, but I remember playing with them a lot as a kid and creating my own original stories with borrowed figures and vehicles from the other Star Wars and G.I. Joe toylines back then (imagination is a wonderful thing). I was lucky at the time to get Data and Yar in the initial mail order set I saved up a whole month's allowance to get.
:)

Would have loved to got that shuttle.

Great articles! This really takes me back to a great time in my life. We had lots of those figures, and an Ent D, but they've got lost sadly over the years. Nostalgia. :)

I still can't believe they interview a Galoob exec and never ONCE discussed the micro machine sets! Were there ship they planned but never built? How did they decide which ones to make as they got into more obscure ships. We may never know! :scream:

IIRC, Galoob was bought out by Hasbro about 15 years (or so) ago and then was pretty much shut down, although the name was continued to be used for a little bit longer for their line of Titanium ships.

I had one of the little die cast E-D's.. playing with it for a long long time.. I also had a Data like in the first link with the blueish face. My local K-Mart had it. I got it because i thought it looked cool.. Had i known.. I ended up burning him along with other G.I.Joes in my driveway.
