the TARDIS

For Orac: Ian commented that the "box" was vibrating as if alive, but that was about the extent of it. As Grinch Doctor stated, it was in "The Edge of Destruction" that really played up the idea that the TARDIS had a sense of self awareness independent of the Doctor. (It tried to warn the "crew" of the danger through "suggestion" as it could not seemingly "talk" to them directly. And it was the Doctor's realization of that fact that led him to become less self absorbed and start evolving into the personality that we recognize to this day.

Sincerely,

Bill

Hasn't this already been done in the series? It was dying in Turn Left, and The Ninth Doctor said it would just become an odd little thing on a street corner no one would notice.

what would happen to the tardis once the doctor has finished regeneration cycle is completed and he finally dies, what happens to the tardis, would it destroyed itself or would the timelords(from a other time period)bring it back to gallifrey?.

I'm certain they'll find away around the regeneration limit (if they need to), Possible ideas,

1.>all Time Lords where given a full regeneration cycle at the start of the Time War

2.>Extended travel within the Time Vortex has given him more

3.>He ot several more from River.

4.>The Universe decides it needs him in order to maintain some sort of balance.

You could say certain dialouge has droped hints to the Doctor being no ordinary Time Lord, referrqances to 'The Lonely God', Latimers speach from when "Human Nature", where he describes the Doctor as being Ancient and Forever

The Tardis will of course use all of the energy of time and space it has absorbed in its travels as well as the power of several of the Doctors who have regenerated inside it to keep the Doctor alive infinitely, which of course renders the question moot.

Which sounds "fanficcish" on the surface. But given the revelations of "The Doctor's Wife" and the Tardis stating that she stole him and not the other way around it would take this ackward little romance the two have going and turn it a lot more creepy and ickish. A good writing staff could run with something like that and really turn the series on its head.

* The TV movie also has him imply that he can change species when he regenerates, and he never does actually say that his mum was human. Plus, you know, chameleon arch.

In light of The Doctor's Wife, I'd like to think the reason for that was / would be that she was grieving herself to death.

Destiny of the Daleks also implies this given that several of Romana's potential new bodies are alien.

Yep. As the Fourth Doctor said, "It's what's on the inside that matters. That's what's important, isn't it, K9?"

Didn't one of the novels mention another TARDIS who, after the death of her Time Lord, committed suicide by flying into a sun or something like that? Given what has been confirmed in The Doctor's Wife, I most certainly think the TARDIS would grieve. Since TDW also established she isn't like other TARDISes I don't know if she'd commit suicide - part of me wonders if she wouldn't simply continue travelling and trying in some way to continue the good work the Doctor did. According to the 2012 Brilliant Book there was dialogue written but cut that established she could always change her appearance, but decided to stay a police box because that pleased the Doctor. I could see "the adventures of the TARDIS" happening down the line.

Destiny of the Daleks also implies this given that several of Romana's potential new bodies are alien.

Adding fuel to the fire, the BBC-licensed short story The Lying Old Witch in the Wardrobe reveals that those alien bodies were in fact manifestations created by the TARDIS herself, as was the Lalla Ward Romana who appeared in that first story.
