At the recent convention, a few lucky (bastard) attendees got to visit the set for the TARDIS. Various videos are on YouTube. Here's one that shows something interesting:

The TARDIS has been modified yet again for the better. Last year they replaced the nondescript railings with fancy aluminum tubing rails, and this year they've finally FILLED IN THE GIANT GAP IN THE SET with some wierd spiderweb coral and yet another exit. This hole was previously used for easy access in for the camera and crew, as they generally shot from that direction; now that the hole is finally filled in the TARDIS finally exists as a true 360-degree set, for the first time since the TV movie (and for only the second time ever). Almost all previous iterations of the console room featured half to two thirds of a complete set, using camera trickery to suggest that the set is complete.
Furthermore, there's now a third set of stairs down to the lower level from the main level. And perhaps best of all, the big nondescript metal wall has apparently grown some coral doodads to mesh it more with the rest of the set. The whole thing is still a big pastiche of varying styles, but at last someone can actually walk into the console room and have it LOOK like it can be a full set.
Well, at least until they look up and can see the ceiling of the studio the set is sitting in...
