Whatever happened to Vicky? She had a happy ending. :luvlove:

The latest companion return comes by way of "The Storyteller", starring Maureen O'Brien as Vicky, which is promoting the season 2 Blu-ray set.

Not sure why this one got me as emotional as it did, but it did bring a tear to my eye.

Impressive list of extras!

It's a little mawkish, but still has an intangibly tangible charm and Maureen more than rises to the occasion. That alone makes it all worthwhile. :) Definitely impressed that they got Maureen to do the vignette on top of an interview I can't wait to see thanks to the snippet shown...

But how would a human who was born and raised in the distant future (~2600AD) manage to adapt to the rather distant past (~1184BC), especially when newfound hubby probably didn't last too long due to the lack of anything approaching modern medicine? Not only another time lacking in the basics, but another culture - something that gets romanticized a little too quickly at times, based solely on pictures of pottery that still exist, and I suspect that few would want to actually have to live in some of those time periods. Not even my ex, if he'd read just enough to match what little I had done, but I digress and need to get over him anyway, but I digress again. I wish the vignette could have covered a bit of that. Not my ex, more and other of the culture Vicki retired into and her transitioning into it, which would not have been easy - to say the very least and with the least amount of digression... again. It'd have been a refreshing facet to cover (Vicki's post-Doc life, before I get into x4 :nyah::guffaw:)...

I meant to look at that the video when you posted this but I was at work and then completely forgot about it when I got home. That was a lovely bit of fun with Maureen O'Brien and I will say all of those extras for the season set are pretty damn nice.

They absolutely have to bring back Carole Ann Ford when they release season 1 blu-rays.

I was hoping she's appear in series 10, but it wasn't to be - I wonder if any stories had been in any stage of development, things didn't work out, so they left only a B&W publicity photo on the desk? Still lovely to see and Capaldi opposite Ford would have been a treat... at least for a one-off or two. He and Pearl Mackie were brilliant and the show felt fresh again after series 8's uvenness and 9's staleness. Capaldi still made most episodes that much better, but even his verve with that dumb fish tank joke - which is actually funny but seemed out of place anywhere that wasn't labeled "MAD Magazine"... it becomes harder for anyone to do parodies of a show when the show won't take itself seriously.

I’m glad they finally started doing season sets for Dr. Who, I’m ecstatic that they’re finally getting around to Hartnell! He’s tied with Tom as my second favorite Doctor, and both of them are just *slightly* behind my favorite. The rest are okay, but those three are tops for me. And after owning damn near every Hartnell and Troughton and a good sampling of every Doctor afterwards, some years ago, I can say that Ian is the baddest motherfucker who travelled with the Doctor back in the day!

Seriously, though he was pretty bad ass and didn’t take shit. That became a running joke between me and a former roomie when we watched them. Especially after Ian left.

At any rate, will probably pre-order this, and it’ll be my first season set, something I wanted when I owned a shit ton of DVD’s…..before losing all of them. Now season sets are what I want, glad to see they’ve finally been doing them.
