The Star Trek XI DVD?

Yeah, it's a little early, but I'm just curious as what you guys would like to see in the way of Special features on the Star trek DVD when it comes out?

The only thing I would REALLY like, and it probably won't happen, is two audio commentaries. One with JJ and some of the new crew, of course, but what I'd really like for the second is a commentary with whatever remaining ORIGINAL actors there are. I would love to listen to Takei, Koenig, Nichols, Nimoy and Shatner give their thoughts on the new movie, and how their characters were handled.

Another thing is, where on your shelf is this going to go? After Enterprise, but before TOS, or are you going to put it after Nemesis? (For those of us that put all the ST DVDs on the shelf in chronological order).

I haven't decided yet. :)

Standard stuff Im sure. I doubt they would pay the original stars for their thoughts.

I want to be able to turn off the lens flare... might need a special edition for that.

I'd like to see more information on the other previously unseen Federation starships seen at the starbase and in the task force that was sent to Vulcan.

Also, more of the backstory (than was in the movie) concerning Nero, Old Spock and the Hobus supernova that was in the Countdown comic for those who didn't read it or know about it.

An interview with Scott Chambliss as to why he decided to redesign the Enterprise.

I would like to see Shatner on the DVD - it would be abad business decision not to have him! ;)

Seriously though, the original cast recording a commentary on the new movie? I think that'd be a bit insulting to them. "Yeah guys, only Nimoy's good enough to be in the thing, but why don't you guys come and give us a 2 hr review".

I never thought of them having an old crew commentary - that could have some nostalgia value. But I doubt they'd do it...

I'd though along with the usual features (deleted/alt scenes, commentary, making of etc) they'd have maybe a 'what came before' type thing to link in with the franchise, maybe even pointing out Parallels.

I highly doubt Shatner would do it, but the rest of them? I think if they were asked they'd be more than happy to do one.

I think it would be insulting to the new cast, a la Enterprise finale. So yeah, nice effort guys, but we'll bring the people who matter in to talk about your movie.

I'd love to see the various deleted scenes (e.g., Rura Penthe, Spock's birth, the whole Sam Kirk storyline) reinjected into the movie via seamless branching, but unfortunately from what I've read it's more likely that those will just be deleted scene snippets.

The extended cut where we have an hour of Kirk at the Academy walking around with a stack of books with Gary Mitchell and Finnegan, two of the most essential and popular characters in all of Star Trek that Abrams pissed all over.

Id seetle for the obligatory making-of feature lol. Other than that, I dont really care what else they put in there.

I'll have a lot of space to put it on my DVD shelf now. For some reason, all my other Trek DVDs and VHS tapes have disappeared since the new movie came out...

Maybe they could heckle him:

Nichelle Nichols: "Look at that fragile putz! He should'a stuck to taking snapshots of fat chicks."

Koenig: "And that costume? They should have made two: one for him to shit in, and one to cover it up with."

The big deal is the Blu-ray. New Trek, New Format, it can be huge and convince more people to finally switch the vastly superior format. A combo with DVD and digital version would be best.

I hope the Blu-Ray really shines on this release and they use the formats size and capabilty to include everything on the DVD on HD plus BD-live and more content.

As far as content, I'd like all the trailers, deleted scenes, documentary, story board, countdown comics, naked lesbian pics of Zoe and the Orion, as much as possible really. The sky is the limit on Blu-Ray.

Hopefully they don't barebones and then double dip on either DVD or Blu-Ray.
