This is meant as a companion to the (real) presidents Hurt/Heals I've been doing over in Miscellaneous. Below is a list of high-larious (as Carvey's Perot would say) Saturday Night Live parodies of presidents, vice-presidents, candidates for those positions, and one cabinet member who wouldn't stop blasting "My Sharona" until I agreed to put her in.... The list is not comprehensive, but covers the most notable portrayals in my on-and-off viewing of the show. If you feel that a worthy parody that falls in this category has been left out, then for the first round of voting only, please feel free to add them with a starting score of 10 points. Executive Branch only, please!


The Rules
  • Each parody starts with 10 points.
  • 1 vote every calendar day per member.
  • With each vote you must both:
  • Heal your favorite parody + 1
  • & Hurt your least favorite parody -2
  • You cannot Hurt without Healing or vice versa.
  • Once a parody reaches zero, he or she is off the show!
  • Parodies are ranked according to the order of their elimination.

^I'll agree that McCain is not one of Hammond's stronger parodies.

Hartman was awesome as Reagan, Clinton, and Stockdale. I made the list, but I'm having a hard time finding clear favorites, there are so many strong contenders.

Forte's Bush sucked donkey balls, though. I haven't even seen Sudeikis' Bush...is it an improvement?
 
Chevy Chase is an easy target. Wow, he fell down a lot. Ross Perot was funny already; Carvey made him great.

I was a big fan of Dana Carvey's HW Bush - but prefer his debate against Lovitz' Michael Dukakis - two of the funniest things I've seen on SNL were in that skit - the power-raise platform and his line, "I can't believe I'm losing to this guy."

Much as I appreciate Darrell Hammond, his John McCain is pretty weak.

I've only seen Poehler in the first Sarah Palin skit and I couldn't stand her as Hillary. Terrible. But to each their own. *shrug*
 
^If you're interested, there's lots more of Poehler as Hillary in the videos available on SNL's official website. The primary debate skits got a lot of attention in the media, the first one having been referenced by the real Hillary in one of the debates.

General Kang only subtracted 1 point from Hammond's McCain, so the current score should be...

^Agreed...he was the highlight of the '96 political season...and noteworthy enough for the real Dole to pay him a visit on the show, accusing him of imitating Aykroyd's Dole rather than Dole himself.

I've been feeling like giving a shout-out to Phil Hartman's Reagan....This skit (of which only an unfortunately-brief segment is available on the official site) stands out as a classic. :lol:

Agreed. It may have been more of a slapstick routine than an impression...but Chase started the whole tradition reflected in this thread.

I only just started watching the show again after a haitus...I wasn't sure who'd been doing Bush. I'd seen Sudeikis referenced in a photo gallery on a news site, so I put him in, assuming he was the most recent one, which would make him noteworthy. The official site doesn't have any videos that I could find of anyone more recent than Forte playing Bush.

I can't even remember who did Mondale.

Nor I, and I was watching in that period. For that matter, I can't remember them doing much with Reagan in that era. I did a smattering of research on Wiki when preparing the list, and they said that the show really wasn't known for its political satire in the years between the original cast and the Carvey/Hartman cast...and that's reflected in the list.
