They live in space. It would have to be a rather antiseptic environment, generating minimal dirtiness to begin with. Scrubbers filtering the air of dust, particulates, pathogens, etc...

A thousand people in a sealed environment will be making plenty of dust as the dead flesh continuously falls off their bodies and is replaced.

And if people have indigestion there are a variety of remedies available at their local pharmacy. I've heard that Gaviscon is quite good.

Unfunny jokes are par for the course on any message board. If they cross over into flaming/trolling board members, they obviously become overtly actionable. Where they are of a generalised nature, it becomes a moderator judgement call as to whether they were intended to specifically attack a board member. Sandoval's original lack of funny IMO wasn't specifically targetted at any member here, more a general demonstration of poor taste. Having said that, it shows a striking lack of consideration for other members of varying ethnicities here, and so definitely lowers the threshold for future action if there's a further questionable case to answer for trolling. It doesn't speak of someone with good and positive intent regarding discussion.

Secondly, using racial slur words to flag up the poor taste is a dangerous road to go down, esp. as Sandoval avoided using the racial slur words for Polish & Mexican people. Bisz, I've absolutely no objection to your pointing out the poor taste of the joke, but the board has historically come down very hard on the use of racial slurs, in any context. Please don't use those specific kinds of words again.

Finally, Timo, you've posted long enough on the board to know that responding to the bad taste of others with flames is never wise, even if occasionally understandable on an emotional level. It really does play into the hands of the person with poor taste, and only encourages the issuing of warnings against you instead.

I like to treat TNG forum readers as grown-ups capable of managing their own behaviour in a way that doesn't breach the board's rules even when they dislike each other and even in the face of some generalised offensiveness. I'm very disappointed in how this thread has developed, and trust it will not be repeated, and I will be markedly less inclined to let things lie in future should this repeat.

I'm locking the thread by way of ending what has clearly become a discussion that has little to do with the originating topic.
