the second hand

have you ever looked at the clock and swore you saw the second hand go backward for a second or just stop for several seconds?

This is God's way of checking if we're really paying attention...

Thanks for throwing me for a loop what with the ADHD AND the clock pausing and going backwards there big guy.

Doesn't he have better stuff to do like, I dunno, bringing rain to the world's famine-ridden regions or doing something about that pesky cancer?

He has plenty of time on his hands, what with the playing with second hands.

I rule in favor of Hermiod in the amount of ten billion quatloos or the equivalent sum of ten strips or gold-pressed latinum plus time cleaning up the sticky floors in TNZ .
I'll pay my share of the quatloos, but I'm not going near TNZ.

My school had clocks that were are centrally synchronized so once each hour any analog clock that drifted ahead would tick back until it matched the master clock...or if the room clock was running slow, it would move extra fast for a few seconds to catch up.

But that was a networked system. If the clock you're using is one of those clocks that synchs to a time-server's radio signal, it could also be performing an auto-synch. :)
