The Rocketeer (1991)

Many here seems to wish there was some sort of sequel (which, I admit, I would have liked to see a follow too).

I wonder, though, if the fondness of The Rocketeer is partially because there was only one, which makes it somewhat unique.

^ Cool beans! :bolian:

And the last scene was a huge fail - the studio wanted and was planning for sequels, so how could they not end it with Campbell being called upon to use his talents for a super-secret spy mission against the Nazis in Europe?

To be honest, given what we saw of them in the Nazi propaganda, pitting Nazi Rakettruppen against the Rocketeer would be epic material for a sequel.

That definitely would have been cool to see in a sequel, but I don't think there was any need to start anything at the end of the first movie.

I thought Cliff ending up with Jenny and a new plane from Howard Hughes was the perfect end to that particular story. And besides, Peevy already had some plans drawn up for another engine, so clearly it wasn't the end of their adventures.
A very late reply, I know, but whatever: I might agree if Cliff and Jenny were getting together for the first time during the denouement. But since they start the movie as a couple, it's just not terribly exciting to see them reunited. Though I'm sure it was imposed on him, Johnston got the ending right with Cap: the hero is summoned to a new mission.

Jennifer Connelly fit the period as wonderfully as Hayley Atwell does in Captain America. Johnston has an eye for this.

I liked this movie. It didn't make a tremendously strong impression on me, but I don't remember anything about it that I didn't enjoy.

Excellent news! I love this movie! And Dennis, you are so right about Jennifer Conelly and Hayley Atwell. :techman:

It has Dalton. With a moustache. Being evil. That's all you need to know.

The Rocketeer was the first movie i saw in a cinema, so it'll always have a special place in my heart.

Welcome to the club!

After the movie I took some playdoo and sculpted the helmet over a star wars fighter pilot

Absolutely. He knows how woman looked like in the late 30's

Which is fairly miraculous, considering that not one photograph or drawing of 1930s women have survived to the present day. The man is obviously a genius among morons. :p
